Phelan Vineyard’s goal for their Cabernet Sauvignon is to continue to allow a sense of terroir to exhibit itself in each vintage and to emphasize the uniqueness of the mountain site.
The sense of place can be seen in the consistent deep dark magenta color of each vintage. The volcanic soils naturally restrict the size of the crop creating intense fruit flavors.
Each year the talented Bob Egelhoff as winemaker takes the fruit and uses his vast experience to emphasize the flavors inherent in the mountain site.
The wines are drinkable at release, but benefit from decanting and aeration. They give the best of both worlds with early enjoyment and long term aging potential.
