About Winemaker Bob Egelhoff
With the fruit from the Phelan estate in high demand by several well-known wineries, in 1998 the Phelans decided to bottle their own wine. The search for a winemaker was on.

One meeting with Bob Egelhoff and there was no doubt his passion matched their own. In addition to his acclaimed winemaking talent, Bob has hands-on vineyard experience, something Arlene especially values after years of personally tending the vines.

Bob is young and enthusiastic and has developed a local reputation as one of the best Cabernet winemakers in the Napa Valley. His experience includes winemaking with David Arthur, Amizetta, Egelhoff and Phelan and vineyard management for Beckstoffer and Merryvale with Bob Levy.

Bob's passion for the art of winemaking shows in his enthusiastic vigilance of the wines and the vineyards. With his careful nurturing, the wines express the robust fruit character and earthy complexity unique to Phelan's mountainside vineyards.
